Economics 101

Recently, on the times of India website, I responded to a fellow-Bhaarathas frustrated comment. That got me thinking... here's why - the article was about the rate of food inflaton coming down due to the massive surplus of food produced by The Holy Land.l The frustration of the other commentator i.e. Navneet from Pune, and responses from the rest of us (I'm EconomicIndian) are on this page: http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/opinions/7899928.cms I was wondering - is it a good idea to take a look at Indian Economics, World economics, and how we got fucked in the deal? (pardon me french!) Let me know... and I reckon we'll have a great discussion here! Bhaarath Maatha kee Jai!!

The Guru-shopping Guide

Aaaha. Now that you’ve decided to live a life with meaning, you’ve gotta find yourself a decent Guru.

Doesn’t sound all that hard. Or does it? Actually, to many superstitious Indians, there should be no issue here, because EVERY Indian knows what a Guru is...
According to your average Indian, a Guru is some kind of a guide, or a spiritual advisor or one of the quacks that appear on TV. Don’t get me wrong – there are true philanthropists who operate as Gurus, unfortunately, there’re also all manner of charlatans who do so – be it that freshly converted and zealous Pentecostal freak or the neighbouring Imam whose great-grandfather was converted at gunpoint.
There’re those that are obvious scammers, especially the catholic priests, imams and babas who’re on TV talking shit.

And then you have the supposedly-smart ones. The other day, on SBS, I saw an Islamic freak tell the world about how ‘Islamic’ scientists had contributed to ‘modern’ science. I guess some of us humans were created with a manufacturing defect – stupidity!!!!

This post is about what characteristics to look for in a Guru. To begin with, one needs to understand WHAT a Guru is... Ready?

For starters, get a piece of paper, and in BIG letters, spell Guru  G-U-R-U (No points for correct spelling – it’s not an English word)
Now, read that aloud LETTER by LETTER. That’s right, say each letter aloud and pause for a moment between each sound.

Unless your name is G W Bush it should read – “Gee, You Are You...!!”

And THAT, my friends, is what a Guru does. He or She enables your self-realisation. So now, WHO exactly is qualified to enable our Bhaarathic Moksha-switch?
No one. As a matter of fact, no one can teach you anything. YOU, and only YOU are the REAL Guru as well as the real Shishya. In Creation this form of your SELF i.e. YOU, is Lord Brahma – The Eternal Preceptor (his Shakthi being the very erstwhile Devi Saraswathi).

Then why do we have such a concept? What is the reality that ‘modern’ Indians have embraced that causes them to throng around a politician like Christians and Muslims do?

In English, Guru is known as the planet Jupiter. Does that ring a bell? Anyone who’s read up on Jupiter, or Guru, will tell you that this planet is characterised by its generosity and magnetism.

If Guru were a person, he would give a total stranger a generous and warm treatment (Guru, the planet, is masculine in nature – so feminists -please don’t start). This is pretty much what you’d expect of a Guru – unconditional acceptance and respect.
I’m sure a lot of experts may have varied opinions on this view of mine – but I’ll put it here anyway – there IS a difference between a Guru and an Acharya. The Acharya trains his/her wards in a discipline, a trade or a skill-set i.e. Vidhya such as archery, or battle, and so on. Acharyas themselves are accepted experts in their chosen trades e.g. Dronacharya.

The Guru, on the other hand, is more a facilitator for Thanthrik or higher learning. On occasion, Kalari experts are known as Guru-kk-ll in the parts of the Holy Land that harbor this ancient (and once, secret) art. This is because the Guru teaches his shishyas more than just the physical skills of Kalaripayatteh. The lessons are more about character, values and ethics, as opposed to the skills (which include Marma-Yogam – google that!).

I think the same person may be both a Guru and an Acharya simultaneously, depending on the discipline (many are cross-discipline experts) and the Shishya involved. When the teaching, and therefore the relationship, transcend from a sensory skills-transfer to a telepathic perspective-transfer.

But then, that’s just my opinion, and I should stop before I get rather long-winded.
What I’m saying, I guess, is that it’s important to be prudent and objective when giving putting another person on your personal-Guru pedestal. Such mental structures give other people a ‘back-door’ into one’s own psyche, and this is a situation to be avoided in the Kali-Yuga.

In the Kali-Yuga, many otherwise-nice people will turn a different shade when empowered with control over social sectors or individual people. It’s the nature of the times, and I would say it is preferable to perceive such failures as an omen of the times rather than the failure of Manushya as a creation.

It is necessary to understand that someone who may know more about you about a topic or a subject is not necessarily your Guru. At a higher level, you are your own Guru. You chart out your horoscope before you descend into the human condition per se. On occasion, your Karma may even require you to descend simultaneously into multiple bodies that are related to each other in their respective lives.

Conversely, another person’s Karma may enable him/her to be ‘more aware’ than others in certain respects. This is a Karmic blessing, and has been misused by many a person. Famous examples include M K Gandhi, Hitler, Mandela, R Nixon etc.
The prudent Jignyasu may find it useful to distinguish between a Guru and someone with better awareness or skill.

I’d love to hear your views on this – personal experiences, or conjectures – it doesn’t matter. Go on... put it up, folks. Let’s hear it!
Warmest regards

Change of Circumstances....

Dear All,

Over the last few months, I have been fleeing some extremists who are bent on ending my time on Bhoomi.

I do apologise for the long delay in replies and also for the lack of follow ups on JyothiShaasthram.

I have been underground for a while - protecting my life, as well as the life of a Kshathriya lady from the ancient land of Pars who has said goodbye to an idiocy sold as Islam. For the simple reason that she told Mohammad to go sell his fish elsewhere, my lady has had her life threatened, and so have I.

I spend the last two months in South Africa, and have just returned to Australia.

At this point, I am unable to say when I can put up another post. Since my identity remains hidden, none of you will even know what happened to me should I disappear... scary, huh?!

While my understanding of my horoscope, my past lives, my present Karma and my life ahead is quite detailed, and I do know that I will live to tell of my war with Injustice AKA Islam, Christianity, Judaism AKA Kali, I do not know when I shall be able to get back online to this blog.

I shall do my best to continue to put up meaningful posts here, but I must admit, sometimes, the fact that Bhaarathas don't care about who they are - weakens my resolve to bring this insight to the world.

Nevertheless, though I do not know when my next post will be, I do know that I am grateful to all of you as an audience.

If you read my blog, then you are all Seekers of Knowledge - and Sathyam will triumph. Your quest shall result in your realizing who you all really are.

Please continue to put up comments here, and I shall surely publish responses and other bits of information.

In the meantime, do check out any of Shrikanth Talageri's works. And do tell other Bhaarathas who they really are.

It saddens me to see the current levels of stupidity in Bhaaratha....

A few days ago, a fellow Bhaaratha and an old friend of mine tried to explain to me why The Koran was the answer to all of Mankind's problems.

He quoted the mention of a water hole that provided water that 'could not be spoiled' after years in Saudi Arabia. I suggested that simply because a book recorded such a water hole, that book couldn't be a scripture.

When I, in turn, told him that good ol' Mohammad had not even been the brains behind the Koran, and that Salman-e-Farsi was the brilliant political mind who compiled the Koran, and that Salman's objective was a belief system that would unite a bunch of illiterate nomads (i.e. Arabs), he asked me to prove my statements.

Naturally, I suggested he go to modern Iran, and study historical documents. 'NO'...he said. "If you say something, you must also be able to prove it immediately"...

In response, I mentioned that while I could at least direct him to the location of the documents, all he had was a book, the origin or the content of which he could neither prove nor validate.

His response was "well, I'm sure that if you'd had this chat with an Islamic scholar, he would have provided proof"....I said "but according to you, unless you can instantly prove what you're saying, it is not valid - doesn't that mean that according to you, your Koran is invalid?!"

I swear that this otherwise intelligent person from The Holy Land argued, and behaved, so much like a possessed fanatic that it terrified me.

Most of these poor people who live on 'faith' and will kill for a book, be the book named the Koran or the Bible or Torah, don't know what they are killing for, or cheating for, or lying for....

Breaks my heart to see this - but such is the Kali Yuga.

Of course, while I allow my misguided muslim friend to speak his rubbish, I do NOT make the mistake of telling him how stupid and misguided his views and beliefs are...

He has been programmed - like a robot - or like one possessed by a demon -- to respond in only one way to anything anti-Islamic (i.e. Pro-Human) --and that is by opposition.

There is simply no point telling the truth to the Zombies of the Kali Yuga.

But there is one thing you can do --- you can ask questions that they have no answers to...perhaps it'll make them re-think their religious programming.

My question was "So... you're telling me that The Divine Creator (who is yourself or myself in the Vedic Tradition) was not capable of sending his message out to humanity...and instead decided to write a 3 books over time (Judaism, Christianity & Islam) in 3 different languages and presented them to the neighboring people in order to get them to fight for centuries?"

My other observation was "so 'god' is a discriminatory being who goes around being partial to Muslims, is he? and obviously, he never spoke anything other than Arabic, so god is an Arab as well.....interesting...!"

To Christians I'd ask ... "so your idea of god is this person who makes children to be used as messengers and speciments, and this god is so powerful that he could make only one child to be used as a messenger....interesing..!"

When the muslims or christians are Indian, it gets better.... LOL

"So, god ensured that your ancestors would be raped, pillaged and looted and converted at gun-point ....that's a pretty cool god. What's his name again? Allah? but then, Allah's just Arabic for 'almighty being' so, why don't you use your own language, be it Malayalam, Tamizh, Hindi or whatever to address this chap? Of course, perhaps it was because Allah was racist, and told the Arabs to go around doing his work- and use any means in doing so..."

"So jesus' daddy made sure that your ancestors would be offered visas in the US to convert you to a believer, eh? pretty smart daddy he's got there"

Aaah the fun goes on, my friends. But I must leave now, and don't know when I will put up another post. My greetings, and very best wishes to one and all of you...

Rasis, Nakshathras, Tamizh and the Nodes of the Moon...

Hi Mei,
The Rasi is the equivalent of the Moon Sign in western astrology, but is interpreted differently by Vedic practitioners. In their wisdom, these astrologers observed that the emotional make up of a person is a lot more accurate in helping predict that person's reactions as opposed to his/her character. Emotional reactions comprise the 'nature' of a person, and hence the emphasis on Rasi in Vedic systems. 'Natchathram' is Tamil for Nakshathram = which literally means constellation - and signifies the combination of heavenly bodies from which a person derives his/her character i.e. the thought/action pattern that is seen when that person has to make important choices in his/her life with regard to ethics, ideals, values and Karmic decisions. I'll simplify that - it is the equivalent of a 'house' in Western astrology, but is conceptually more complex, and meaningful. To put this in perspective, consider Hitler - who was a fantastic leader and statesman - he wanted a United Europe, he envisioned a cheap practical car for poor people - what we know as the Volkswagon today was his brainchild, and his use of a Vedic/Indian title 'Arya' to denote racial superiority (you have to give him points for knowing how to hypnotise a populace) ---- unfortunately, for Hitler, his emotional drive that caused him to use his skill was quite negative and anti-humane ---- he hated women, he gathered religious hatreds, and was brutal in his decisions regarding the fates of many a man, woman and child.
I don't know if this shows the difference between Character, and Emotional Drive. In the last 20 odd years, popular psychology and social groups have started catching up with the Vedic system, and are placing more importance on Emotional Intelligence (EQ?) ---but every Vedic practitioner has known this emphasis for the last couple of Yugas at least.

Dear Santhip,Rahu and Ketu are nodes of the moon. This is a concept quite alien to our Westernised education and thought process. In the Vedic system, the Moon is an entity that controls emotions, amongst other characteristics, and consists of two NODES. These Nodes, influence the person in question depending on their position. Rahu is the head of the Asura who drank the Amrtham (closest English word = divine nectar) Lord Vishnu helped churn from the bottom of the Ocean in his Avathaaram as the Great Tortoise. Anyway, so whenever Rahu, the head, or the North Node of the Moon, eclipses the Sun or other planets, Rahu causes the aspect of life ruled by THAT planet/the Sun (for that person) to be controlled by impulsive emotional reactions, and is hence considered 'bad'. Rahu personifies traits that make people liars, cheats and stands for negative speech, mlechhas, falsehood and also, strangely enough, personifies the granting of wealth, mental power, peace-making activities, manipulation, poison and fame/fortune/authority/blessings.Ketu, on the other hand, being the Southern node, signifies wealth, spiritual inclination, and many of the other characteristics that are signified by Rahu --- the difference between Rahu and Ketu is the way in which the influence makes itself seen/felt/manifested.Suffice to say that if Rahu and Ketu are emotional snapshots or states of mind, then their effects signify what THAT state of mind will attract to THAT person. Of course, these states of mind are facilitated by Rahu and Ketu.It is important to remember that all celestial bodies change peoples' states of mind, and like it or not, the Mind being the magnet it is, that person starts attracting certain circumstances/thought processes/manifestations that are best suited to that person's Karma i.e. horoscope, and decisions for a specific lifetime.

Dear Ashi,Yes, I would say that matching horoscopes is a great idea to begin a relationship - be it formal marriage or a relationship based on sexual attraction (oh come on!! there's no other kind in most cases). It must be remembered, however, that interpretation is of prime importance. Unless the interpreter/practitioner takes into account the entirety of the horoscope, the 'matching' will not be complete or sensible.

Dear Rohit,I do apologise for the long delay, and will explain in my next post. I've been through some very trying and scary times recently.

Dear Vijay Reddy,
It is an honor and a pleasure to present ancient wisdom to Seekers of Knowledge like yourself.

Dear Rohit,The lobby of Tamizhs who argue that Tamizh is older than Smskrth are essentially those who subscribe to the theory of Aryan Invasion as propagated by idiots like Michael Witzel. Misguided historians like Witzel and Marija Gimbutas, depend on theories of how languages develop and evolve to trace the origin of a language or a civilization.According to their version of life, Smskrith comes from certain parts of Europe from where people migrated to Greece, Iran and India. We, knowing our history and knowing that Smskrth is not a language developed by human beings, have a more accurate idea of our history.Neither Witzel nor Gimbutas can base their theories on any actual evidence, and instead rely on Gimbutas' ideas on how languages evolve and how to track the origin of a language etc.Shrikanth Talageri is a famous Indian scholar who turned down an opportunity to study at Harvard with Indology 'scholars' and change his perspective on the history of the subcontinent.Talageri ripped apart Witzel's criticism, and has time and again revealed Witzel to be the fraud he is.Anyway, there never was any invasion - and you're best off doing your own research on this. you'll notice that every historian who presumes there was an invasion and that Vedic culture was NOT native to Bhaaratha has no proof nor any reason to think so. Or maybe perhaps there is a reason - all these historians are of European origin, and would do anything to prove that there was no civilization before the Europeans. LOL.
Tamizh was the language of poets and literary scholars in the Dravidian South of Bhaaratha. It is an ancient language that was adopted by AgasthyarMuni when he crossed over to the South.Tamizh, a beautiful language as it is, and my native tongue, is NOT older than Smskrth. Smskrth was given to us when Lord Brahma settled Vywaswatha-Manu in Bhaaratha at the beginning of this Manvanthara. The Dravidas were one of the great tribes of Bhaaratha. And their language was Telenge. Originally, Tamizh and Telenge were merely different dialects, but then evolved into different languages.Kannada was another dialect that developed into another language as Udupi turned into a cultural gem.Smskrth, on the other hand, has always existed as a singular language. You cannot add new words to Smskrth - though 'modern' scholars tend to experiment.I guess to truly satisfy yourself, I'd recommend some study at the Sree Sankaracharya University at Kalady KL.
http://www.ssus.ac.in/
When a lot of people realize that Dravidas (the ancient residents of KA, KL, TN and AP), and Pahlavis (the ancient residents of Pars (modern Iran)) are equal in their cultural stance as Bhaarathas - and that there never was any invasion, and that Samsrkth truly belongs to all of us --- all the way to Bali - the Indonesian Island that was bombed for still being Hindu, then perhaps we will stop fighting about what the oldest language really is...and get on with the business of being Manushyas...I hope this helps.

JyothiShaasthram 101 – An Introduction to Astrology

Dear people…

Before I venture into JyothiShaasthram, let me give you an idea of what to expect.

I’m sure by now you’ve all Googled astrology and doubtless have your own views on many matters.

I do not wish to or intend to change any of your perceptions on the matter.

However, what I do hope to do is to give you some insight into the origin of Astrology, its purpose and its limitations in the Kali Yuga.

This initial post will also detail on the structure of a horoscope…I pray one and all of you will benefit from this post.

First, let me distinguish between a Horoscope, and JyothiShaasthram itself.

A Horoscope, or Jaathakam, is merely a mnemonic representation of the positions of various celestial bodies at the time of a person’s birth.

If you remember from previous posts, the significance of the EXACT time of birth is that it is closest to the actual time at which YOU ‘ride’ into your body/mind complex on the first breath of Prana taken in by that body (which is a built-in mechanism – so to speak).

The light that ‘falls’ on you at the moment of your first breath ‘confirms’ your Karmic Path in that life time. And it may be in your stead to remember that YOU chose your time of birth to specifically cater to your Karmic Ledger.

Ergo, your Horoscope is a depiction of the Path you have chosen. In the hands of a gifted Astrologer, it can detail everything to the size of your penis (for guys) to whether you will have a slim bodily disposition (which gives a lot of relief to many women, and causes anxiety amongst others) and even how many relationships you will have in your life (incl whether from the same community, nationality, religion etc.)

One must also be aware that this Shaasthram has been cursed in a previous Yuga and is doomed to be inaccurate in the Kali Yuga. The inaccuracies arise from Human perception, language barriers (Samskrth is no longer available for most communications), the awareness levels of Manushya in the Kali Yuga, and so on forth – and not from the science itself. Remember, this is the Kali Yuga, and the effects are very very deep.

What is the purpose of JyothiShaasthram?

As the name suggests, it is the science of enlightenment (for want of a better word in English…) and essentially is your guide to what Karma you have chosen to live out in this lifetime.

It does NOT force you to confirm to any rules, actions or attitudes. Oddly enough, you’ll find that many Yogams (inclinations?) and Doshams manifest in the most unexpected ways. The only way to understand this is to experience it.

Usually, it is when you’re around 30 years of age or so that your Natal Chart and its inferences begin to make sense. This is more to do with your abilities to perceive your past/present and emotional/social maturity, than with anything else.

I shall, in general try to stick to Western terms for planets, planetary aspects and houses – purely because this makes it a LOT easier to understand for many readers.

To learn PURE Vedic Astrology, I daresay you must devote a good part of your life to it. This is almost impossible in the Kali Yuga, and here’s why –

JyothiShaasthram has SIX major ‘chapters’ of Shaasthras: Jaatakam, Golam, Nimitham, Prashnam, Muhoortham and Ganitham

Each of these has a different purpose – e.g. Prashnam is a technique applied to solve questions without looking into other issues viz. Am I destined to have a regular job or will I be mostly living off my inheritance? Are there any curses on this property?

Jaatakam, on the other hand, is all about the interpretation of your Natal Chart. It is considered a sacred document with a life of its own, and once charted, MUST be treated with respect i.e. do NOT throw it under your bed to gather dust.

There are further classifications and divisions. Many of you of Indian Origin may be familiar with the ‘Muhoortham’ system, which deals with the ‘ideal’ time to conduct an important event such as Marriage, begin construction of a house etc.

To learn the technicalities involved in all these chapters can take a dedicated student years. In some cases, the ‘knowledge gene’ is passed on in families, and such students may imbibe such knowledge much faster (strange as it may seem, the origin of a Gene is a Thought). In other cases, individuals are blessed with insight into such sciences and will master the science sooner than others.

My objective here is NOT to provide the material to study the entire Vedic Science of JyothiShaasthram. Much as I’d like to, that would simply be beyond the scope of a blog. And it would be in violation of many laws of Universal Knowledge -If you have queries relating to this, simply ask =) and I'll try to explain, as I've tried many times before, why Samskrth concepts are nearly impossible to translate.

To work around the complexity of JyothiShaasthram and yet give you insight into Astrology as it is marketed today (you are more likely to come across these commercial Western-style documents than Vedic documents, I think), I plan to present concepts in a Vedic context, but guide you with Western terminology.

In all honesty, I would recommend that you contact a well-known Vedic Astrologer and have a cup of coffee with him/her. There is NO substitute for that.

I’m sure many a Vedic purist would frown at my approach – and it would be true that I would NOT be able to transfer Vedic Concepts as accurately as I might want to. My only hope is that the insight I give you will inspire you to set out on a path of your own.

Let us start our understanding of the Jaatakam

If you’ve had a look at your horoscope from many of the popular websites that offer such services, you must be familiar with the ‘houses’ in your chart.

A House is a logical ‘compartment’ of your life. Usually specific areas of human life are compartmentalised into a house. Mathematically, these Houses are occupied by celestial bodies, and the ‘attitude’ of these bodies combined with the aspect of your life that the House controls makes changes to the way you live your life…

Perhaps this will be clearer as we move along to some information on your First House.

The First House is located between the 8:00 pm and 9:00 pm position
in your chart (Western-style, that is). It reveals the sign that was ‘ascending’ or rising at the moment you were born. First impressions you create and the personality that you wear in front of other people is usually governed by this house, and the ‘ruler’ of that house in your Natal Chart describes the way you dress, the way you move, your modes of self-expression, the overall condition of your health and your physical body. As you move through life, various ‘rulers’ move in and out of your houses, and these have additional affects on your behavior.

If you have the sun in your First House then you would have the traits of a Leo in your personality. This is because the Sun rules the sign of Leo. This would make a person an extreme extrovert, a natural performer and create a flamboyancy that indicates an obsessive need to be the center of attention. A good example of an

actor with the Sun in his first house is the popular Nicholas Cage who is known way of dressing. Other examples of Sun in the First House eccentrics are Brad Pitt, Bjork, Gerard Depardieu and Jude Law.

If you have the moon in the first House you are likely to present yourself like a Cancer native. You could be very intuitive, moody and also VERY sensitive. You are likely to be a collect wealth (assets?) and quite sociable on the outside but manipulative behind the scenes. The example of a person with a moon in her first house is the talented but obviously publicity scheming Madonna. Other examples
include Leonardo DiCaprio, Antonio Banderas, Kate Winslet, Heather Locklear and Charlie Chaplin.

Mercury in the First House bestows traits of the sign of Gemini (Mercury's ruling sign) and, to a lesser extent, Virgo. This is a very manic and self-expressive placement and it is likely that the person with this in their First House will be an actor or a writer.

He or she might also be a big gossip. They are excellent communicators and seem to be everywhere at once (or at least, they WANT to be…). When you have Mercury in the first house it is also likely that you connect a lot of individuals together. A good example of a fast-talking individual with Mercury in the first house was the late Steve Irwin – the Crocodile Hunter from Oz. Other examples are Arnold Schwarzenegger (strange, huh? but consider that in spite of his horrible accent, he's made it to governer of the state with the largest economy in the US), Ronald Reagan, Juliette Lewis, John Kerry and Barbara Streisand.

Venus in the First House usually gives you the traits of the sign of Libra, and some of the traits of the sign of Taurus. A person with Venus in the first house is a little bit shallow - more into pleasure, sex and beauty then most people. People born with this are also more attractive and go to a lot of trouble to enhance their appearance. The downside is that this type of person can be stubborn or self-indulgent. A really good example of a well-known individual with Venus in the first house is former American president Bill Clinton who is of course most famous for his charm and his infidelity. Many ‘hot’ celebrities including Angelina Jolie, George Clooney, Cameron Diaz and Jude Law also have Venus in the first house.

Mars in the First House means that you will demonstrate the aggression, ambition and "can do" attitude of someone born in the sign of Aries. You are a proactive individual who is prone to working too much. A drawback of having Mars in the First House is a tendency to get into conflicts very easily. You would also be prone to impulsive behaviors and also accidents due to an inability to look before you leap. An example of an individual with Mars in his first house is Michael Jackson (who of course, was always in some kind of trouble yet it is probably also this strong Mars placement in his chart that fuels his fame and talent.) Other examples of people with Mars in the First House are M K Gandhi (who of course had his personal Islamic religious mission), Condoleezza Rice (who ironically deals with a lot of war), Roman Polanski
(exiled for pedophilia) and Dodi La Feyed who was Lady Diana's handsome
fiancé (The British Monarchy would die rather than admit it!!) and was killed in a car crash with her in Paris.

Jupiter in the First House is considered a ‘lucky’ placement by many (not I, though). You will appear wealthy, emotionally secure and more "together than most people." You will have many of the traits of Sagittarius (Jupiter's Sign) including the Archer's optimism, efficiency and intelligence. On the misfortunate side, Jupiter in the First House can have you come off as being spoiled or opinionated to others. You may also have a tendency to be overweight or addicted to an indulgence like alcohol. Bill Clinton, who was famous for his quick jogs to McDonald's, is an example of a person with Jupiter in the first house (Are you beginning to realize that multiple planets can occupy a house?) Other examples are Marlon Brando (who also dealt with an
expanded waistline in his latter years), Kate Hudson and Michael J. Fox.

If you have Saturn in the First House you will have the traits of the sign of Capricorn - you will be responsible, moral and a bit uptight. Individuals with Saturn in the First House appear suspicious and fearful to others. You might also appear very status conscious - to the point of appearing shallow. Others do not easily trust people with this placement. An example of a person with Saturn in the First House is the much-maligned Bobby Brown (singer and husband of Whitney Houston.) Other examples are the much criticized Britney Spears, wife-beater sex-symbol Sean Connery, adulterous (in spite of being UGLY!) singer Mick Jagger, actor Sean Penn and singer Cher.

If you have Uranus in the First House then you will have many of the traits of the sign of Aquarius. Others will see you as forward thinking, imaginative and innovative. In fact others perceive many people with Uranus in the First House as geniuses. Uranus in the First House denotes great intelligence as a well as an interest in unusual and esoteric subjects. A good example of a person with Uranus (the planet of technology as well!) in the First House is computer magnate Bill Gates. Other examples are singer Kurt Cobain, singer John Lennon and singer Bruce Springsteen.

Neptune in the First House gives you the traits of the sign of Pisces and you may appear as moody or unreliable to others. Often people with Neptune in the First House appear untrustworthy because they easily shift alliances or appear like opportunists. They appear to "wear their heart on the sleeve" and can sometimes disturb others, as they appear otherworldly, quirky or even psychic. A good example of a person with Neptune in the First house is Nicole Kidman whose appearance is very angelic and unusual. Other examples of individuals with Neptune in the first house are Marilyn Monroe, Vanessa Paradis, Gwen Stefani, Roger Moore, Courtney Love and Andy Warhol.

Pluto in the First House lends an individual the appearance of an authoritarian. You come off as an intense, yet secretive person. People with a Plutonian first house also have great intuition and understanding. They also have the ability to heal others and themselves yet of all the signs they can also be the most savage when it comes to personal survival. A good example of Pluto in the First House person is the current Dalai Lamai who of course keeps many spiritual secrets. Another good example is Keanu Reeves who starred in the Matrix series. Actress Sharon Stone, millionaire Richard Branson and fashion designer Donatella Versace are also individuals with Pluto in the first house.

Aaah…that was a lot of information…But here’s MORE.

It is vital to realize that what is good for one person may be bad for another. The easy-going nature of a person with Neptune in the First House is a disadvantage if you expect that person to be an Entrepreneur. But it is an advantage for someone who requires to be calm and collected under stress.

Remember, there are NO good or bad characteristics. It’s a matter of context, in many cases. For instance, if Gwen Stefani had not been an opportunist, she would NEVER have made it from waitress to pop star.

Not everyone with Uranus in the First House will be a Bill Gates. Other houses, their rulers, the totality of the horoscope and so on come into action here.

Here's an interesting excercise - look at people you know well, observe their behaviour…consider their motives, and try to gauge what planet they have in their First House. See how it feels to have insight.

Finally, look at yourself. I'm sure there are many websites that give you your natal chart for free...

See for yourself how easy it is to be prejudiced based on little information. It is very easy to mistake shyness for prudishness, caution for cowardice, and stupidity for courage.

Remember also that a person's nature is hidden beneath many, many layers of conditioned or practiced behavior.

Let me know what you think…I am eager to hear from all of you, and will try to reply as fast as I can to your queries and insights.

Warmest regards

Maya – That which is NOT...

I would be surprised if none of you have already done some research on Maya, and have a few pet theories of your own.

Two words – Well Done!!

Recommended readings -

Ashtavakra Samhitha
Shankaracharya's works - anything you can lay your hands on.

Remember that all translations tend to error. Such is the precision of Samskrth, that concepts when translated, are very hard to grasp. Look at how many words I'll have to use to describe Maya...

So what is this massive illusion we’re talking about? So, if everything (everything?!) is unreal, what is real? How do we define/differentiate between what is real and what is unreal?

Are there various ‘levels’ of Reality? Which part of me is really real?!

Hmmm… if Eashwaran is all about Truth, then why fool us all with an illusion? If the We are ALL the one and the same absolute, then what’re we doing creating our own mini-realities that we call ‘life’? What is the purpose of this apparent illusion?

First, let me clarify something – the Samskrth word ‘Maya’ can only be translated in English as ‘illusion’. BUT – Maya is NOT illusion. Maya is NOT unreal.

Maya is a conscious experience – usually through the mind.

Let me explain with a tale that is the reason the Ashtavakra Samhitha exists.

In the Thretha Yuga, Avathaara Shri Rama’s father-in-law Maharaja Janaka ruled a prosperous kingdom. The people were happy, Dharma was practiced, and the Maharaja felt that he was doing his duty. However, he could not find satisfaction. Regardless, he continued to rule as the virtuous king that he was (remember, it was his virtuous Dharmic nature that caused Bhoomi Devi to choose him as the earthly father of her daughter Seetha Devi, or Janaki – the Daughter of Janaka).

He then had this dream (this is long after the actual war that’s the highlight of most Ramayana translations today) where he was a beggar being chased and abused by villagers. This kind of community based action took place in those days only when the beggar or person involved was considered a danger or threat to the sanctity of the community.

Of course, when he awoke and the dream vanished, he found himself swathed in his silken robes and in the Royal Bed Chamber… and yes, he was relieved.

This kept happening, and naturally, the curious Maharaja brought it to his courtiers’ attention that he wanted to know more about his experience…

If any of you have ever woken up from a dream feeling you were still in the dream, you may remember that every sound, every image, every experience from the dream was as real as the ‘reality’ around you – your body, your bed, your room and the furniture.

Maharaja Janaka’s dream-experience was so strong that he found himself unsure of which was real – his life as a ruler or his life as a menace to society…

The question he put to his courtiers was “which is real?”

Of course, if any of you has read the Samhitha itself, you would know that Ashtavakra answered his question thus “Neither”. If any of you wishes to understand the answer as the Maharaja did, please look for this book – you’ll find many translations of it. In spite of the inadequacy of the English language, I would strongly recommend it as the best description of what Reality is.

Literally translated, Maya is ‘that which is NOT’. In English that doesn’t make much sense. Especially since no one has defined ‘That Which IS’.

An ancient Guru once answered a curious Shishya’s questions with a single phrase. The questions, just like ours, were about reality and the nature of being. “O Teacher, what is it that by knowing which one becomes free of all (Karmic) bondage?”

“ThhuthThvamAsi” – That is What You Are – literally, but in English, it’d be ‘Thou Art That’.

‘That’ here refers to the Absolute – which is pretty much all creation. The Shishya had a fairly good understanding of Karma, and the Laws of the Universe. But it was this singular concept that freed him.

Of course, in the parable of the Ancient Guru, the Shishya did not understand ThhuthThvamAsi. He didn’t have a clue. The Guru took pity on him, and took him in as a student. He asked his eager Shishya to till the fields and take care of the land for 12 years. And then to come back with any questions he had. The steadfast Shishya did so – and 12 years later, got the same answer – ThhuthThvamAsi.

Maya, as a principle, serves two purposes in The System. It hides the true nature of a consciousness from itself, and it can construct an entire ‘reality’ specific to that consciousness.

A Consciousness’ awareness within Maya exists at 3 levels Thamas (Darkness/Ignorance), Rajas (Awakened/in Action), Satthva (Pure Light/Enlightened).

Rishis exist at a Satthva level. They can see ‘through’ Maya, but can also exist within it. Asuras are obviously at the level of Thamas.

Remember, this doesn’t make Rishis ‘good’ or Asuras ‘bad’. Each being has its purpose and appropriate Karmic duties. Even Kali is necessary for without his hatred of human beings, none of us would be able to live out our very worst Karma – we can do so only in the Kali Yuga.

The Mind, whether it belongs to a dog, a man, a woman, a tree, a stone, a river or a building, is an electromagnetic transceiver. This device is designed to both perceive Maya and to contribute to Maya.

Manushya is the being designed to be able to USE the Mind. The being that can evade all the in-between stages and attain Moksha straightaway (though not in the Kali-Yuga).

To be able to use the Mind, however, the Manushya must first know who HE/SHE really is, and must be able to perceive the Mind as an instrument (AshtaangaYogaSoothra is the recommended tool for this – popularly known as Yoga). Everything that the Mind perceives is Maya, but not ALL Maya is perceived by most Minds.

To know Reality, one must transcend the Mind. When one has gone beyond the Mind and experienced Pure Consciousness unhindered by the Mind, then one will know how to differentiate.

Because, then one will truly have experienced the statement ThhuthThvamAsi.

Thhuth – That – refers to everything in the universe. Everything within Maya, and everything without Maya. The Absolute is all that is manifest, and all that is un-manifest at the same time.

The Absolute Being literally ‘dreams’ everything else into existence.

The Dream is neither real nor unreal. It is merely Creation.

Eashwaran – The Absolute Being – Lord Shiva – Lord Vishnu REQUIRES Prakrthi-Lakshmi Devi- Parvathi Devi –Devi MahaaMaya to manifest Creation.

When you, as a consciousness, descend into this Lokem, Shiva Maya (read Devi Parvathi) makes you forget your true nature. You are unable to understand the statement ThhuthThvamAsi. As you descend further into physical existence, you finally reach the ‘body’ that you must inhabit. At this point, the ‘body’ is a baby that has just been born – and a series of events unfolds. Once born, the baby opens its mouth as a reflex action. Precisely at this moment, you – Aathmen – pure consciousness enter that body riding on the Prana that it takes in as its first breath. On cue, Devi Lakshmi rubs Vishnu-Maya on your eyes with love. You forget your previous lives, your Karmic purpose for this life and forget all previous relationships.

This is necessary – I mean, how would you actually have children if you remembered your wife as being your brother many lives ago?

Maya – is everything we perceive through the mind. The only thing that we CANNOT perceive through the mind is our own True Nature. To perceive this, we must go beyond the mind. And ‘I’ am the ONLY Reality.

What in the world is an Avathaar? Or, as it’s fashionably spelled nowadays, an ‘Avatar’?

Based on whether you use an ‘avatar’ for your web messenger or your social website, or whether you’re a Vaishnava, or a fashionable Buddhist-inclined ‘modern’ Hindu, your concept of what an Avathaaram is can be quite vague, if not misguided- unless you’re a Vedic and a Bhaaratha (in which case, this should be an entertaining read for you).

Let’s face it – you can’t blame The Internet, Microsoft, American voters, the Muslim bastards, the Christian imbeciles or the British Raj if you do not actually make the effort to find out for yourself what the word means…

So what is an Avathaar? An incarnation? What is an incarnation? Amongst other definitions incl. Christian ones, most dictionaries define an Incarnation thus: A bodily manifestation of a supernatural being.

How accurate do you think that is? Hmmm. So according to ‘Hindu’ literature, one of the ‘gods’ called Vishnu decides to get a flight down to Earth to save our asses every now and then. He takes on a human-like form that is called an Avathaar, er…sorry, Avatar.

Pshaw!! You might as well define Karma as Newton’s Third Law or embrace the Aryan Invasion theory. That kind of perspective is about as true as the notion of Mohammad being a ‘chosen’ prophet.

Anyways, we won’t go into the propaganda of false prophets at this point.

Let’s get on with the concept of an Avathaar...

Yes! An Avathaar is a concept. Just like Freedom is a concept. Just like the Judeo-Christo-Islami idea of ‘God’ is a concept – albeit misguided and silly. Just like Equality of men and women is a concept…

Remember the posts where I’ve put forth the concept of creation itself?

Quick recap – there’s the Supreme Being – a Being with no desire, with no thoughts, no attributes, and no emotion. This Being is pure consciousness – it is purely aware of everything, and thereby, of itself – it IS everything by itself. There is no other. To understand the reason this Being sets Time (Devi MahaaKaali – an entity within which exists Kaalam – the passage of Time) to start ticking, and The Being brings forth manifestation and creation, it is said that every consciousness must return to it’s pre-Karmic state of awareness.

This Being has states of sleep and wakefulness. When it wakens, the process begins. Since the Being sleeps and wakens alternately, there is NO beginning, nor is there an end. There are merely cycles within cycles within cycles. I think I described this in detail in the post about Yugas…

I hope that brings to mind the concept of Time and the cyclic nature of processes. In the midst of these processes, Manifestation occurs – The Absolute Being – The Supreme Consciousness – splits itself. Remember, when you’re Absolute, you can split into a thousand pieces, and each piece is a COMPLETE you. So, in the interests of Governance of the System, The Being’s manifestation as The SadaaShivam brings forth Lord Brahma and Lord Vishnu, and about 900 Million entities that govern the system in which Manushya is created.

Complicated eh? Well, remember I was telling you in another post that it takes about 300 years of dedicated study to master The Veda? Hehehe…now you know ;)

Let’s take a look at Lord Vishnu. His duties are varied…and his Shakthi is Lakshmi Devi – the entity that personifies Prosperity (remember: Prosperity is different from Wealth, though it may include Wealth).

MahaaVishnu – his task is To Protect. Protect what? From whom?

He protects The Universe by sustaining the processes that The Universe entails. And sometimes he protects it from itself- from Adharma, or Unrighteousness. In other words he protects Dharma.

What is Dharma? Righteousness. Eh? And what’s that?! If I tried to define it here, it would take a whole book. Let me try to give you a picture though…

Remember, right and wrong are words that apply to little things – such as the right way to drive a car, or the wrong way to bake a cake. When considering vast subtleties like consciousness and Manushya, we talk in terms of Righteousness.

Example: It is a soldier’s Dharma and Duty to fight to protect his nation. He may have to kill, lie, cheat, strategize or manipulate to do so, but he must do so in order to fulfill his duty. He does NOT incur negative Karma for killing in battle etc. for he is fulfilling his Dharma.

A closer lOOK: If you’re a son/daughter in a mid-level Vaishya family – you have duties towards your Pithra (Father), Maathra (Mother), and siblings. You have duties towards the Society. Towards your neighbors. Towards not-so-Karmically aware members of the society such as Chandaalas or Shudras. You also have duties towards your Kingdom, your King, the Brahmanas who uphold principles in your community and so on forth.

When you take what you’re not entitled to, you’re breaking a Dharmic principle. However, if you’re a King protecting his nation, and lie to an enemy King, and conceal the enemy King’s weapons or bribe his soldiers, you’re actually fulfilling your Dharma as a King.

Did that bring a frown to your face? Think again. Dharma exists at a personal level, at a familial level, at a social level, at a national level, at the levels of various worlds – DevaLoka, Bhoomi etc. and at a Universal Level – Lord Yama Himself. Lord Yama, as a principle, is protected by Lord Vishnu – as is Lord Vishnu’s duty.

I hope all you readers remember the concept of the Absolute…I have detailed it in many ways in many of the previous posts.

If you’re not familiar with it, please read and read again until you can visualize an Absolute form that can be split into a billion forms without any compromise to its nature – each and every one of those billion pieces is a complete absolute – as complete as Eashwaran – the Absolute Being.

Now, we are each one of those billion or more pieces. The consciousness within every bird, quadruped, ape, worm, butterfly, shrub, alga, tree, bacterium, drop of water, atom of sand, grain of stone, blade of grass and electronic charge is as Absolute as Eashwaran himself.

So now, imagine – all of creation is Eashwaran. The Absolute Being is Eashwaran. Easwharan is everything, and is also nothing – because nothing is what is left when everything is taken away, and that nothing is Eashwaran itself.

Is that a difficult image to hold? Every galaxy, every planet, every star, every comet, every cubic micrometer of space, every light year measurable, every breath, every unit of light, every unit of energy – everything that was, is, and will be à Eashwaran. The Absolute.

Now, return to a small part of creation – small, but primary – Manushya. Whenever Manushya, who represents the blueprint engineering block upon which all creation is built, is engulfed by Adharma, and Dharma is beginning to fall apart – and is held by a string or two…at that point, Eashwaran – all consciousness, all creation, all the un-manifest, all reality, and all energy, focus via Lord Vishnu to be manifested in a Single Human-Like physical form.

And THIS form is called an Avathaara(m).

There are powerful humans who’re influenced directly by Lord Vishnu himself, but are not the same. Though some scholars do refer to them as Avathaaras, they’re not.

The Avathaara is a form that exhibits what Manushya is capable of in his/her ultimate form.

The manifestation of the Avathaara is so powerful, and so universal, that the mere mention of an Avathaar’s name brings forth a blessing from the Universe.

Lord ParishuRama was an Avathaara in this sense. Having said that, he was quite a character. .. Born a Brahmana he took forh the task of Kshathriyas, and wiped out generations of Kshathriya kings. What started off as a quest to wipe out corrupt rulers turned into a bloody clean-up operation lasting generations.

Another instance, Lord Krishna was an Avathaara- but he was not the first person to be named Krishna. Krishna – pronounced Kŕshna. But after the occurrence of that Avathaara, the word Krishna itself became a Manthra.

Manthras….the power of Sound. Brahmanas use Manthras. Mothers use Manthras to protect babies, and even the cry of the peacock is a Manthra.

The more powerful of Manthras are scripted in Smskrth. When chanted by Brahmanas during specific rituals, these Manthras are capable of mind-boggling effects.

They can induce rain – they can wipe a nation off the map. They can imbibe blessings for a nation, and to this day, Bhoomi Devi would cease to rotate around herself if the two thousand or so Unknown Brahmanas stop chanting their Manthras and discontinued their rituals unbeknownst to all us blissfully ignorant Manushyas…

For the ‘scientific’ minds – without the earth’s axial rotation, the earth’s electromagnetic field would cease to exist. The dynamo-effect of rotating semi-liquid mantle rotating around a core (solid inner, liquid outer) that creates the earth’s electromagnetic field would be gone. Even if the outer crust continued moving with accrued momentum, solar winds and electromagnetic radiation would kill us all. Of course, if the rotation stopped, we’d all be thrown into outer space with the resulting inertia.

Anyways, Manthras can be designed for each specific person based on his/her Vedic horoscope. Manthras can be as simple as Om Shivaaya Namaha (Om Namaha Shivaaya is reserved for Brahmins and special practices). Merely chanting an Avathaaram’s name will bring in powerful universal vibes.

Try it out. And for a detailed read of Avathaaras, try

I must warn you all, however, that translations, though well meaning, are always inaccurate, and badly translated. This is essentially from the difficulty of finding English equivalent for complex Samskrth concepts, and in many cases from the translator’s bad understanding of the accuracies of the English language. For instance, I quote the from the link above:

“Brahma accordingly created two beings from his body, one was male and the other was female. The male half was named Svayambhuva Manu and the female half was named Shatarupa.”

In this case, the Translator deigns to mention that none of these beings are human beings. Svayambhuva Manu is Samskrth for ‘Self-Realizing Mind’. Obviously this is not a human entity – but the web page does give the reader the impression that all these are people except for Lord Brahma. Shatharupa is Samskrth for “She of a hundred forms”. Again, it’s obvious that she’s not a human lady.

I have been exposed to Samskrth, and find it easier than most to understand what even these terrible translations mean. But most people end up being misled…

However, read intelligently, and there is still a lot of wisdom to be salvaged – after all, SathyamAeva Jayathey…

Also, note many elements of Judeo-Christian-Islamic religion in their original, unaltered, and true form – The Pralaya – the flood, the boat (Noah’s ark? C’mon Jesus, you could have written a more original book, you bastard!!) And the story of creation narrated by Matsya Avathaaram (Lord Vishnu- of course) – does the word ‘genesis’ from the bible book ring a bell?

Ahaa……Thought so ;)

Do meditate on the concept of an Avathaara. Understand through your own inner experience why the word ‘Rama’ or the word ‘Shri Krishna’ stirs a primeval feeling of power within you… I mean, just try it. Ensure Mommy, Daddy, little Bubblie, the family dog Jingo and the neighbor’s wife do not disturb you.

Lay down a strict rule.
Turn off your mobile hand-phone

Do you have a tape-recorder? A Dictaphone? A computer with a microphone?

Read out everything below in your own voice. Stop at the full stops, pause at the commas. Emphasize wherever you feel it necessary. Record yourself reading the instructions below…then play back your recording and follow YOUR own instructions. If you want to feel the difference between the name of an Avathaara used as a chant, and an ordinary word, first try these instructions, then repeat them, another day, with a word like 'Apple', 'Magnet' or 'Wall'

Close your eyes. Sit down with your legs folded under you, and your back erect. As erect as you can position it without undue effort. It must be a relaxed position – perfection of posture is not the objective.

Hold your hands out, with the palms facing upwards…fold your index finger so that it can touch the thumb…and relax your arms. Let them just lie there – with no effort.

If you need to lean on a flat wall while sitting so, that’s fine.

Straighten your neck. You should be looking straight ahead. What do you see? A wall? Your bookshelf? A Window? The curtains? A painting?

It doesn’t matter. Stare at whatever you see…then, start breathing – feel your breathing – in-out-in-out.

Feel it? Good…continue until you’re comfortable breathing…don’t stop. It should be automatic, but feel the breath – feel your abdominal muscles moving in and out. Your chest should not move at all. Essentially the muscles in your abdomen push air out of your lungs when you breathe out, and when you relax those muscles, your lungs pull in air.

Air is that element through which you take in Prana. Prana is NOT air, but is an electromagnetic energy that flows in via the air you take in.

You may now notice that you can feel the Pranic energy flow in and out of your system.

At this point, close your eyes. Continue as before. When you’re ready, with each outer breath – or exhalation, say ‘Om Shivaaya Namaha’ or ‘Om Namo Bhagavathey VaasuDevaaya Namaha’.

Continue for as long as you wish. Do not be surprised by the sensation – simply accept it as your birthright, and continue. When you’re ready to, stop chanting. Continue breathing…and open your eyes whenever you wish.

Yugas – The Secret of Time, The Identity of Jesus , and The Nature of Kali

Welcome to the Kali Yuga, all ye Seekers of Knowledge! For this is the age of Supreme Ignorance, the age when those with the worst Karma must be born into… This is the age when Kali is given control of the world as we know it.

The question is, why has Eashwaran’s greatest creation, Manushya (because Manushya is the singular representative of Purushartha – no, this is not a word that has anything to do with the concept of masculinity – it is the building block of all creation) been put through all this torture and pain…?! Why indeed…

Hmmm.

As students of The Veda may have noted, in my previous post detailing Varna, I also described the process of creation wherein The Supreme Being starts off a cycle. Please read that bit again – you’ll have to have an image of the process described there in your minds’ eyes.

We exist as a cycle within a cycle within a cycle within a cycle within a cycle and so on forth. A big part of this Cyclic Lotus consists of Units of Time – or Kaalam – originally manifested as Devi MahaaKaali within whom The SadaaShivam manifests (In other words, the elements of Creation’s Governance manifest within Time herself)

I shall skip many units of time – the entire account is simply too vast and way beyond the scope of a post. A complete understanding involves years of study in a Gurukula.

So now, we have the actual awakening of The Being. Fast forward to the point where the SadaaShivam has manifested. Fast forward to the point where the three primary Governors are manifest (Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu and Lord Shiva, though not in that order) and Lord Brahma’s day begins.

Lord Brahma’s lifetime i.e. the duration of The Being’s state of wakefulness is 36000 Kalpas, with one Kalpa being a day in his life. He has nights where he just sleeps, like us…and it is said that all creation goes into darkness and virtually stands still. 3+6+0+0 = 9 – the Number of Physical Reality/Creation.

Life, as we know it, or as Manushyas in other Yugas knew it, occurs only during Lord Brahma’s Kalpas. Now here, we have a very important concept that may help you understand creation itself:

The word ‘Kalpa’ literally means --- yes, you said it – DREAM. Huh?! Did I just say Dream?! What the *#@!#@%$?!

Think about it. Today quantum physics tells us that we alone are responsible for the reality we create. It suggests that The Observed actually manifests when The Observer looks at it. Till then, The Observed exists in a state of possible existence without actually existing.

In other words, without YOU, the observer, the world around you – the observed, doesn’t exist!!

Remember my narration of manifestation/the Creative Process in the previous post? Brahma’s Kalpa is this process of manifestation.

Combine this concept with the a Vedic Truth – ||Aham BrahmaAsmi|| and you may understand why we Humans are a primary element of creation itself AND simultaneously the primary objective of creation.

And if any Australians're reading this, you may want to think about the Aborigines' concept of creation - or The Dreaming...

Anyways, back to the story of time – within the cyclic Kalpa exists another unit of time called a Manvanthara – 14 Manvantharas make up a Kalpa. Of course, for each Manvanthara, there exists Manu, who is not the first man (remember, there is no beginning and no end – everything’s a cycle), but is definitely the first one created in THAT Manvanthara to whom the Vedas are summarized as The ManuSmrthi. 1+ 4 = 5 which is the number of Buddhan (Mercury). Buddhan is the Communicator. At each Manvanthara, all knowledge must be COMMUNICATED without words by Brahman to Manu and believe it or not, the simple fact that 14, the Magic Number of Communication, is around – helps with the process. It’s part of the synchronicity of the Universe, dear Seekers. Just like the 9 of Brahma’s lifetime.

Each Manvanthara in turn is made up of 71 ChathurYugas (a ChathurYuga being a cycle of 4 Yugas). 7+1=8 – the Number of Karmic Debt and Time in the Cosmos.

4 Yugas in a ChathurYuga – 4 being the Number of Change and Upheaval. Every Yuga, towards its end, removes most traces of its existence so that the next Yuga virtually starts of ‘brand new’. At the end of a ChathurYuga, of course, the changes are drastic and the paradigm shift is certainly not subtle.

To put this in perspective, we are in the 28th ChathurYuga cycle of the 7th Manvanthara – and our Manu is known as VaiwaswathaManu. The next Manu will be a reincarnation of an Asura King known as MahaaBali (He of the Great Offering) whose rise to higher consciousness is celebrated to this day in Kerala as Ohnum (they spell it differently – I’m merely trying to stay true to the pronounciation).

Till this point, most scholars more or less agree on what I’ve presented here so far. It is usually the actual lengths of Yugas that many disagree.

Most Puranic literature gives mathematical reference to the measure of time… no, I’m not joking. Mathematics, as we know it, originates in The Veda. The smallest unit of time measurement for everyday use is a Nimesham = 1/20th of a second. Astronomical units of time in The Veda go smaller than this, and of course, much bigger than this.

DevaLokem is the realm of many mid-level administrative personnel such as Indra – the controller of the rains, Varuna – the controller of water bodies, Bhoomi Devi – the beloved Mother Earth, and so on forth.

1 year in DevaLokem is about 360 on our Lokem (realm). However, one must remember that the calculation of the Vedic Day varies from the one in popular use today. The Vedics calculated the Precession of the Equinoxes to a precision of several decimal points. No wonder that, for the Decimal number system, the decimal point, the Zero et al come from The Veda itself. What I’m saying is that it’s not the precision of calculations in questions, but rather the actual method.

Many scholars convert the times from Vedic Devaloka years to human years – the problem being that their version of human years is based on the ‘modern’ calendar. In terms of Devaloka years, the first yuga – The Kriya Yuga or the Sathya-Yuga is 4800 years long, the second – The Thretha Yuga (Shri Rama’s time)is 3600 Devaloka years long, the previous Yuga – the Dwapara Yuga which ended exactly when Shri Krishna ceased his physical Avathaaram was 2400 years long. And of course, the Kali Yuga, which we are living out, is 1200 Devaloka years.

If we went by the numbers alone, we would find some pretty long Yugas there – considering that each Devaloka year is about 360 earth years. However, I feel it is the deciphering of the word Devaloka here that makes a difference.

Let me explain – Deva+Loka = The Realm of The Devas. Who are the Devas? Remember earlier I mentioned who the Devas were? They’re kind of mid-level management within the Governance system – and include the heavenly bodies – the planets, Suryan, Chandran etc. So, going by that logic, Deva+Loka Years should be measured BY the Devas – or by using these Devas as units themselves.

Don’t get it? Remember our ancestors had a calendar that measured months as astrological signs and lunar cycles?

The muslims today follow a primitive version of this calendar, as do the Chinese. The Native Americans (Indians? C’mon Colombus you moron!!). The Panchaangam, even today, uses the original Bhaarathic calendar – regardless of what language it is in.

Our clever ancestors certainly hoped that the whites would interpret The Scriptures in a way that would confuse these Mlechhas.

In that calendar, we’re in year 1100-something. I’ll have to ask my mother for details. But I think you get the idea.

Yes, we’re nearing the end of the Kali-Yuga. Who is Kali? We’ll get to that…

Now, for a general description of The Yugas:

The first Yuga in the ChathurYuga is the Kriya or the Sathya Yuga. Sathyam (Truth) is paramount. Everyone follows Vedic Law. Everyone performs his or her duty in society.

There is no Avathaar required to bring righteousness – everyone is already righteous. It’s so perfect that there is no need for Administrators, Kings, Emperors, Armies, Kingdoms or Nations. In this Yuga, a Brahmana’s son is a Brahmana too. Likewise for all Varnas. It’s precision at its best. Justice prevails at its perfection.

There is no need for peace because there is no war. There is no war because there is no injustice or lie. Politics are not necessary because there is no need for a law enforcement agency or a ruler.

The second Yuga is the Thretha Yuga. This is the Yuga of great nations and Kingdoms. Being the second Yuga, all creation is weaker or smaller or lesser by 1/4th. For instance, if human beings were an average of 4 meters tall in the Kriya Yuga, they would be shorter by a 4th, or would be 3 Meters tall instead. If the average IQ was 200, it would come down by a 4th – or would be 150 in this Yuga. This quarterly shrinkage occurs as each Yuga progresses, and by the Kali Yuga, we’re absolute idiots in comparison…lol. As we shall see, however, this is necessary for Karmic purposes.

Lord Shri Rama walked this earth during this Yuga. He was an Avathaar, though. That’s another topic.

Remember that at this stage, honor exists. Even in war, there is honor and dishonor. The world would look down upon those who would not observe honorable practices. Justice was revered, and even Ravana spoke the Truth.

A lot of you may not know this, but Ravanan was a great Shiva Bhaktha – possibly one of the greatest – he was not a really bad person – just an Asura by nature. He was a good man amongst Asuras, actually. He was misled by his sister into committing an act of treachery while thinking most of the time that he was seeking revenge for an insult to his sister. But then, such was his Karma. As a matter of fact, he ended up doing quite well, because to be killed by an Avathaar is akin to a blessing.

All that is another story.

The third Yuga is the Dwaapara Yuga. The Yuga of Great Battles of Righteousness. The Kingdoms of the previous Yuga would evolve into opposing bodies of thought. They would be led astray or led to glory by those who led the Kingdoms.

Lord Shri Krishna and the MahaaBhaaratha occurred during this time. It was in this Yuga, in preparation for the Kali Yuga, that Valmiki, Veda Vyasa and the other Rishis put down in writing what was the first written draft of Vedic Knowledge. Till this point, it was all passed from mind to mind by a Guru or an Acharya in the Gurukula. There were some great Acharyas who were also Gurus.

An Acharya, by definition, taught a skill – or a Vidya. A Guru, on the other hand, imparted wisdom and knowledge – or Gnyaanam. Some great ones, like DronaAcharya, did both.

And then, we have the Kali Yuga. Literally translated, Kali means – dissension, strife. This is the Yuga where the worst karma can be lived out. Those with bad enough Karma make it to this one.

This Yuga is controlled by Kali. Sathyam is the only quality left. All creation is symbolized by a Bull. The Bull stands on four legs – Sathyam, Dharmam, Shauchham and Daanam. Truth, Righteousness, Cleanliness and Charity.

Remember the quarterly reduction of all creation in each Yuga? In the Kali Yuga, humans are only 1/4th as intelligent as they used to be, and of the four legs of the Bull, only Sathyam remains.

SathyamAevaJayathey, NaanHrutham. Only the Truth shall triumph, not untruth. You see, Kali is the son of a Rishi who was in a deep state of penance. An Asura lady (chick with hot pants?) happened to see him in this state, and she realized that he was not in his body. He was in a state of Samaadhi.

Though she knew it was the wrong thing to do, she felt so turned on that she literally raped the Rishi’s body.

Now, remember that Rishis are not human beings. Anyone see the sci-fi movie Species? Yeah, the one with Natasha Henstridge riding that lucky bastard. Did you notice that she gets pregnant in a few minutes or so?

Similar effect here. Except that by now, the Rishi has returned. And was annoyed to find that this woman had decided to be impregnated by him. Naturally he disowned the child. He was a Rishi, and a Rishi cannot have children at random – there’re strict rules for such beings as Gandharvas and Rishis. As a matter of fact, there’re strict rules for each and every being.

Anyways, this child grew up with an inherent hatred of his father, mother and himself. He hated being a bastard. Being the son of a Rishi, he knew exactly what had happened and why it had happened. He was also aware of his powers. However, it is at the advent of the Kali Yuga, that he was given control over Wealth (which was controlled by Kubera till then) and Gold in advertently by Raja Pareekshith – a direct descendent of Lord Krishna.

When the Kali Yuga began, Kali decided that he would annihilate the human race. After all, this was the race that Rishis like his father valued. This was the race that all creation revolved around. His hatred knew no bounds.

Unfortunately, he realized that rituals performed by the Brahmanas in Bhaaratha could thwart his mental powers. Kali could affect people, or even entire societies in a subliminal manner.

He was a thought demon. Imagine the power of a demon who can destroy a man by merely injecting a thought into that man’s mind?

Anyone here see Denzel Washington’s movie Fallen? That demon could control only 1 being at a time. Kali has no such limitations. His understanding of the System at the Rishi-level means that he can manipulate nations rather than individuals.

Realizing this, but knowing that Bhaaratha was protected by the Brahmanas and Purohithas, he left for the west, where the Mlecchas lived.

He passed by the middle-east, and realized that these people didn’t have the Brahmanas to protect them. He identified a good candidate to ‘lead’ the poor fools there. This candidate was a rapist, murderer and a thief, amongst other things. His name was Moses.

It was easy to conquer Moses. Kali merely appeared in a dream to him, and told him he was ‘God’. And that he could 'save' Moses, so that Moses could save everyone else. He enticed this man to the top of a mountain, put on a show of thunder and lightning, and scared the guy till he wet his pants – “I am Yahweh (Jehovah) the one and only God”. Then he gave him a stone tablet that told the people what they already knew, but portrayed the generalized rules that Kali knew would be broken in the Kali Yuga. In other words, Kali marketed guilt to an entire population with a few cheap miracles.

And hence was born Judaism. Jesus was born a Jew, but his story is a little trickier. You see, in all his efforts, Kali always came around as a voice in a dream, or just a voice with some special effects etc.

It was only in the case of Jesus that he actually manifested a human-like body. Joseph was not Jesus’ father. In history, and even in the bible, Joseph and Mary were not a proper husband/wife pair. Mary would essentially sleep with whomever she had to, and Joseph was little more than a glorified pimp who survived with Mary’s sexual favors.

When they were in Egypt, the Pharoah asked them who they were, and Joseph lied to the Pharoah that Mary was his sister. The Pharoah being an energetic fellow, had great sex with Mary for quite some time.

Later on, when Mary and Joseph were taking a walk down to an area that now lies partially in Jordan, partially in Israel and partially in Palestine, Mary had a dream where Kali appeared to her and told her she would have a son named Jesus blah blah blah.

Essentially, what Kali did is known as Paishaacha Vivaaham – or impregnation by the devil. He entered Mary as a thought in a dream, impregnated her and was himself born to her as Jesus.

This probably sounds like Harry Potter all over again, but this is an actual process. A similar process was used by Kunthi Devi (thanks to a blessing from a Rishi)to have the Pandavas – one from each Deva she chose. The difference was that Kunthi Devi was entitled to the blessing, and Kali literally raped his own mother. Okay, so Mary was no virgin. Okay, Mary probably would not have resisted. But still, Kali chose to be his own father. That is a violation of Universal Law.

Anyways, we’ll leave Kali to HIS Karma. But that is why Jesus is a powerful manifestation of Kali. Kali later tried the Moses stunt on another chap called Mohammad. He also pulled a quickie mental thought-injection stunt on Gauthama Siddhartha and another chap called Mahavira. In the last few hundred years he has pulled similar stunts on just about everyone in town.

Kali’s primary tactic is to divide mankind. Being arrogant by nature, he actually states this in the Bible – Luke, Book 12, Verse 49 onwards, I think. You can check it up for yourself.

Every one of the 99 variations of the Bible would have this bit somewhere. 99 types of bibles? Yes, that’s right- and they all say the same rubbish. There are also many types of muslims and Korans.

But let us not involve ourselves in blasphemy. There’s just no point, and it’s a waste of Karmic times. And no, we cannot help our misguided fellowmen who are born into Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism or any other kind of belief system. They must live out their karma.

So must that painfully ignorant bunch of people called Hindus. The word ‘Hindu’ does not occur in any part of the Veda – but they don’t stop for a second to wonder why…

Sad. But such is the nature of the Kali Yuga…and we must live through it. Detachment is a basic requirement. Truth is certainly required – but this is not the same as going around speaking about what you think is the Truth – this is about seeking it within yourself.

Lie if you have to do business, hide facts if you wish to argue with a politician, be politically smart if you wish to build a society – but as long as your intention is righteous, your means are justified. As Napoleon said, you cannot make an omelet without breaking the egg.

All this is Leela – the divine game. In the Kali Yuga, all rules are reversed in our Realm. Honesty is not rewarded. Honor is not a component of war. Being sneaky, on the other hand, is a good way to kick enemy ass – it’s often classified as ‘strategy’ lol.

So play the game in the Kali Yuga, seek the Truth, and have no fear. The trick the playing the game right is not to let anyone know you’re playing it.

Figure out the last one yourselves…remember, Chathurangam, or Chess as it is now called, is a Vedic pastime.

Om Shivaya Namaha
